Amenity Housing

Our recent proposal repurposes a brownfield site in the heart of Ayr to provide much needed amenity housing. The development comprises of three adjacent blocks, and delivers ¬†over 70 units which are a mixture of one and two bed flats. Each block has street frontage and incorporates hard and soft landscaping to the rear providing green space within an otherwise built up area. As a requirement of the client the design was informed by guidance such as Housing for Varying Needs and Designing Streets from the early stages of the project. This will help ensure that the proposal is sympathetic to its environment and accessible to all users.

The use of different coloured bricks and copper panels draws inspiration from the industrial heritage of the site and the contextual material palette. The building form addresses each street frontage, with corner features to the prominent corners and the secondary streets. It is envisaged that this development will be a catalyst for the further regeneration of the area, providing much needed homes in Ayr.
